Trump Warns Us Will Hit Iran Extremely Hard Over Next Two
Trump says US will hit Iran ‘extremely hard’ over next 2-3 weeks Posted on : 2026-04-02 17:37 KST Modified on : 2026-04-02 17:37 KST The US leader told countries that need oil to buy it from the US, or to go to the Strait of Hormuz and “take it” US President Donald Trump delivers an address to the nation from the White House in Washington, DC, on April 1, 2026 (local time).
(AP/Yonhap) US President Donald Trump suggested the military operation against Iran might soon come to an end in a speech at the White House televised to the nation at 9 pm Wednesday (Washington time), one month since the US and Israel began bombing Iran. “Their navy is gone, their air force is gone, their missiles are just about used up or beaten. Taken together, these actions will cripple Iran’s military [. . .] and deny them the ability to build a nuclear bomb,” he claimed.
“These core strategic objectives are nearing completion,” he said. “We’re getting very close.” But Trump threatened to launch more strikes if the talks ran aground. “We are going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks. We’re going to bring them back to the stone ages,” he said. “If, during this period of time, no deal is made, we have our eyes on key targets.
If there is no deal, we are going to hit each and every one of their electric generating plants very hard and probably simultaneously.” Trump sought to shift responsibility for Iran’s blockade of the vital Strait of Hormuz to oil-consuming countries.
“The United States imports almost no oil through the Hormuz Strait,” Trump said, adding that “the countries of the world that do receive oil through the Hormuz Strait must take care of that passage.” Trump had two suggestions for countries that rely on the strait for their energy: “Number one, buy oil from the United States of America. We have plenty. [. . .] Number two, build up some delayed courage, [. .
.] go to the strait and just take it, protect it, use it for yourselves.” “We will be helpful, but they should take the lead in protecting the oil that they so desperately depend on,” he said. “Iran has been essentially decimated. The hard part is done, so it should be easy. And, in any event, when this conflict is over, the strait will open up naturally,” Trump said.
Trump predicted that the flow of oil would resume because Iran is “going to want to be able to sell oil because that’s all they have to try and rebuild.” Trump said the US had achieved most of the goals of its operation: namely, eliminating the Iranian navy, weakening their air force and missile program, demolishing their defense industrial base, and halting their development of nuclear weapons.
While mentioning the 13 American service members who have died in the conflict, Trump said “we must honor them by completing the mission for which they gave their lives.” “We are going to finish the job, and we’re going to finish it very fast,” he added.
Trump also voiced his appreciation to “our allies in the Middle East, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain” for their help and promised not to “let them get hurt or fail in any way, shape or form.” By Kim Won-chul, Washington correspondent Please direct questions or comments to [english@hani.co.kr] 광고 - [Column] Negotiating with bombs - [Column] What the debate over Atlas and robots in factories missed - [Editorial] There’s no more relying on US after Iran war - [Column] A year on from ‘Liberation Day,’ is America any greater?
